If you want your designer to design a photo-mural for your display, there are some specifications that he or she should follow to ensure a smooth and timely production. We recommend these guidelines be followed whenever possible. Deviation can lead to increased cost and/or decreased quality. If there are ever any questions, please do not hesitate to call (1-800-910-1763).
1st WHEN FORMATTING YOUR FILES
• We recommend 150 ppi resolution for images smaller that 50 inches.
• Do not increase the resolution of files that were scanned at low resolution. This will result in a soft image and sharp definition will be lost.
• In order to constrain file sizes, a minimum of 50 ppi may be used.
•Exceeding 200 ppi at final size is counter-productive, because it creates excessive file sizes. These excessive image sizes do not translate well during the ripping process and image quality is lost.
• Please do not compress TIFFs.
2nd WHEN LAYING OUT YOUR PANEL GRAPHICS
•Picture Boxes in QuarkXPress should have a "white" background fill instead of a "none" fill. A none fill can create jagged edges around the image.
•Please build all documents to the same size that you need the final print. If the final print needs to be larger that the document size, then please build the document in a size proportionate to the final print. For example; a 40in X 60in graphic set up at 50% scale would create a 20in X 30in document. At 10% scale it would create a 4in X 6in document.
• Critical colors and vector elements should be specified using the Pantone palettes available within the layout or drawing application. Utilizing PMS values will help us match colors more accurately. (The Pantone palettes can be found under "Edit Colors" menu.)
• Please provide printable bleed to the document size of your layout. (Bleed that extends off the document edge is irrelevant because all the information on the pasteboard is lost when the file is printed.) If the longest dimention is under 50in, then provide 1/4in of bleed around the entire file. If the longest dimension is over 50in, then provide 1/2in bleed on all sides of the document.
3rd ON THE DISK
• Organize all relevant files into one folder.
•Include all screen and printer fonts in EPS files as well as the layout.
•Include original files of any imported or embedded EPS or TIFF image files included in layout.
• If there are other files that need to remain on the disk but are not relevant, please put them into a "Do Not Use" folder.
4th INCLUDE WITH ORDER
• A hard copy of the layout (PDF Files are acceptable alternatives)
• Any physical references for critical colors (product samples, fabric swatch, previous proof, etc.)
•If working on a CD and a "Do Not Use" folder can not be created, please provide us with the location of the job on the CD, to include file names and directory structure.
